Overview
What is Hermes? Hermes is a kiosk design for future high speed trains in America. Hermes aims to be an all-in-one solution for train riders to purchase and print their tickets as well as make any additional changes and purchases prior to their trip.
Why Hermes? Many people on our design team have traveled across the world and a common theme we brought back was the wish for America to have a better public transportation system. One specific example that caught our attention was the bullet trains that Japan is well-known for. We believed that it would greatly benefit America if a high-speed railway system was introduced so we took initiative to design a kiosk that would hopefully inspire a new high-speed future.

Design
The focus of the kiosk was to create a user-friendly and simple interface that could be easily used.
In the trip selection screen, it is very easy for users to switch between one way and round trip ticketing options. Steps are otherwise simplified to not visually overwhelm a user.
Our seat selection menu features a large visual of actual seating arrangements as well as an easy selection of basic or premium cabin seats.
We allow users the option to pre-order food for their trip so they can travel easy knowing they will have a meal or snack awaiting them.
Finally, users will see their tickets displayed on the screen, exactly how it will be printed.
Additional Feature
One major point of consideration for this project was accessibility, take a look at some of the features we included to make sure the kiosk is as accessible as possible.
